YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOSE A LOT OF WEIGHT TO GET HEALTHIER

If you lose only five to ten percent of your weight when you want to lose 20 to 30 percent or more, don't get discouraged. You will still get these healthy benefits from just a small weight loss: lower blood pressure, lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels, lowered risk for osteoporosis and other joint problems, reduced sleep apnea symptoms and enhanced self image. Go for it!

Question of the Week

Question: I would like to know if these slim wrap treatments offered at certain spas really work? I went for a free consultation, and was told I could lose up to 15-20 pounds! A full course lasts three months. Obviously it is to be combined with a low fat diet and exercise. Provided that I follow the nutrition and exercise, do these herbal wrap treatments really speed up the weight loss? They cost a bundle, so I'd like an outside opinion before I take the plunge.

Answer: In a word, NO. But the low fat diet and exercise will speed up weight loss. And they are free. 

The wraps may be soothing and comforting and may actually result in a slight weight loss due to water weight loss from "sweating it out." Some spa-goers find the slight weight loss from "slim wraps" is enough to motivate them to stay on the diet and exercise regime that is the real weight-loss producer. 

While the wraps are a form of spa pampering that makes you feel good, they do not result in any permanent kind of weight loss. One thing they can do, however, is make you more conscious of your body and that is a good thing.
