Lasik Surgery: How to Pick the Right Surgeon
Lasik surgery, a relatively new procedure to correct near-sightedness, mild, moderate or severe, has grown increasingly popular within the last decade. While the media and others would have you believe it is a very simple operation, in actuality, it is exceedingly complex and requires a highly experienced and dextrous eye surgeon.
We attended the recent meeting of the International Congress of Refractive Surgeons where we heard the presentations of highly experienced Lasik surgeons, as well as personally interviewed two of the leading USA Lasik surgeons, Dr. Charles R. Moore and Dr. Jack Holiday of Houston, Texas.
Their recommendations for choosing a Superior Lasik Surgeon are as follows:
1. Make sure they do hundreds of LASIKS each year.
2. Make sure they have done LASIKS for five years or more.
3. Make sure they are respected teachers of the LASIK procedures.
4. Make sure they have very few "re-do's." Thus, there Pre-Surgical testing must be good.
5. Make sure they use sterile techniques on every case.
6. Make sure they use a new costly-blade on every case.
7. Ask to speak to several of their recent consecutively-operated cases.

Question of the
Week
Question:
Could you please explain how I can do the crunch in bed?
Answer:
We assume you are referring to an earlier tip in the HFT newsletter. We recommend doing the crunch in bed for people wanting to achieve flatter stomachs. This simple exercise can be done first thing before you get out of bed in the morning or at any time, for that matter. While it won't take the place of super-strenuous ab exercises in the gym, it will establish a daily routine that you will find hard to break. Once you start seeing results, it will spur you on to newer and harder ab exercises.
The benefits of the crunch in bed are many;
- Tones ab muscles
- Heightens awareness of your body
- Can be done safely and easily in the comfort zone of your own bed
- Can be done before you're even fully awake thus taking away some of the possible 'burn'
- Will easily fit into your schedule as nothing else is happening before you get out of your bed
- Becomes part of your morning ritual like brushing your teeth, showering or getting dressed
Lie flat on your back in your bed; raise your knees up while keeping the soles of your feet on the sheet beneath you. Rest your arms at your sides. Pull your stomach muscles in hard, pressing your back into the mattress; hold the contraction for the count of 10; release and repeat.
We recommend you start with three sets of 10 repetitions each, taking a 30 second break between each set. Gradually increase the number of repetitions to 50 (by about five repetitions a week) It should thus take you about eight weeks to get to 50 repetitions. Continue doing three sets of 50 repetitions daily. If you wish to increase the number of repetitions, that's fine. Just make sure to go at your own pace. We know people who do more than the numbers listed above. In a sense, the sky's the limit; "If you take the time, you can have abs sublime."
