Tip of the Week
Eating five or six small meals per day is healthier and more conducive to losing weight than three large meals. If you're trying to lose weight, take the content of the three meals you would normally eat, divide it in half and portion it out in five small meals throughout the day. Small portions
distributed throughout the day not only prevents binge-eating hunger, it steps up your metabolism and helps to burn calories more efficiently over a longer period of time.

Question of the
Week
Question:
I was wondering what you recommend to lose fat in the hips, thighs and buttocks area on a woman. I am looking for something that is fast and yet effective. I'm going to Puerto Vallarta in November and want to look great!
Answer:
Fast and effective is an oxymoron in the field of health & fitness. There is no such thing as spot reduction. You have to lose the weight as well as tone the areas with exercise. Losing weight takes about as much time as gaining it did, sometimes more. Patience is the key. Perhaps this is why so many 'easy fix cures' are sold on the marketplace as well as dozens of fad diets and books touting the same. Be careful of any diet offering fast and easy weight loss. In a word, they don't work. If they do, they don't last.
Unfortunately, health and fitness is a lifelong commitment of making the right choices. Weight loss takes time and weight control takes forever, literally. While we can't come up with any miracles to completely transform your body by November, what we can do is offer you hope. We guarantee if you start eating healthfully now, you will be well on your way to looking great and most likely will look great for next year's visit to Puerto Vallarta or anywhere else in the world you may go. If you are only a little bit overweight, you could feasibly drop six to eight pounds in a month. We don't recommend losing more than one or two pounds a week. Anything more is usually water weight and muscle. One pound is equivalent to approximately 3,500 calories. If you reduce your calories by just 500 a day, that's a pound's worth a week. It may not sound like much, but it adds up. At the end of a month, you will be four pounds lighter. That adds up to about 48 pounds in a year. So get cracking!
Change your eating habits by cutting down on obvious fat such as fried foods, processed foods, bakery goods and desserts. Check out our diet tips from our home page, try our low-fat recipes of the week and start working out every day.
Check our Health & Fitness Home Page for more health tips on exercise and weight loss and just plain healthy living. And let us know how you're doing. Good luck.
